to Bourgeon Broucard and Hans Coevert for 4,087 Pounds; then removed to Groat
Barents (Barnes) Island.

PARSELL, Thomas (I1915)

802 !Residences: At about age 6 or 7 he returned with his family to Flatbush,
Kings, N.Y. when his grandfather died and his father bought the family farm
there. He probably married in Flatbush.

!Relationships: A Vanderveer manuscript record by Lester Dunbar Mapes,
obtained from the library of the Institute of American Genealogy, 407 S.
Dearborn, Chicago, Ill., gives the following information: With the exception
of the eldest son, Michael, the baptismal records of the children were obtained
from the records of the Six Mile Run Church, Somerset Co., N.J. In a document
dated Feb 7, 1777, Michael states that he is the eldest son. A Power of
Attorney dated June 3, 1783, now in the files of the Long Island Hist. Soc.,
names these children, appointing their brother, John, (#4) their attorney. A
family record gives further data on John, Jan (#4). The will of Jacobus (#5)
mentions his wife and his brother and sisters with names of his sisters'
husbands. It mentions no children. The will of his wife, Margaret, reveals
her maiden name.

The tax lists of Somerset Co., N.J. lists the "Widow Vanderveer" through 1797.
This probably refers to Seytje. The lists are missing between 1797 and 1803
when she is no longer listed.

Data relative to Cornelius (#2), from a pension application made by his widow,
Sarah, in May 1839, based on his Rev. War service. File also contains a
depostion of Henry Vanderveer, resident of Mercer Co., Ky. relative to the
service of his brother, Cornelius. Also contains names and birth dates of the
children of Cornelius.

!Comment: Loree Lee writes: There may have been other children in this
family, but I have found no record of any others. If there were other, I'm
inclined to think they were girls, as in all my searching of Donaldson records,
I've found nothing to indicate that there was any son except William. Annie
Caldwell Kennedy said nothing about her ancestor, Hugh, having a second wife,
Sarah, but in 1814 Hugh Donaldson and "wife Sarah" sold 100 acres of land.
Then in the 1850 census there was a Sarah Donaldson, age 82 in the household of
John and Esther Donaldson. My guess is tha this Sarah was Hugh's widow. The
last record I've found of Hugh was a land transaction in 1833. He doesn'
t appear in either the 1840 or 1850 census records.

Starting sometime back in the 1910's Francis Theodore Tilton started doing
research on the TILTON line. He commiserated with many relatives at the time
and a couple of hired professionals. About 1930 he started publishing a series
of books on this line. Unforturnately he died before he could get all of his
work published. I have several of the original books and copies of more. I
believe there are about 8 total, all of which I have in one form or another.
At that time his work was highly praised due to the accuracy which he proved by
sources. This is why we don't find too many people doing Tilton research, his
work is considered the "Bible" on the Tilton's.
