If there were other, I'm inclined to think they were girls, as in all my searching of Donaldson records, I've found nothing to indicate that there was any son except William. Annie Caldwell Kennedy said nothing about her ancestor, Hugh, having a second wife, Sarah, but in 1814 Hugh Donaldson and "wife Sarah" sold 100 acres of land. Then in the 1850 census there was a Sarah Donaldson, age 82 in the household of John and Esther Donaldson. My guess is tha this Sarah was Hugh's widow. The last record I've found of Hugh was a land transaction in 1833. He doesn' t appear in either the 1840 or 1850 census records. !Sources: 1.
